Blood Banking / Transfusion Medicine Fellowship - Opening for July 2019

This one-year ACGME-approved fellowship in transfusion medicine offers comprehensive training in the fundamentals of blood banking, coagulation, and apheresis.  Fellows primarily rotate through our pediatric and adult hospitals which offer coagulation and hemotherapy consultation, robust transfusion services, and a hospital-based donor collection program. A unique aspect of our program is that the team directly participates in the care of patients with active massive bleeding and in developing perioperative coagulation management plans.  Additionally, Transfusion Medicine is part of both the ECMO and VAD teams. Fellows will also have the opportunity to rotate through our regional blood center and reference laboratory which provides additional donor exposure and immunohematology training.  We offer extensive apheresis training in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.  This clinically-oriented fellowship is ideal for the candidate looking for exceptional experience in hemotherapy decision-making and coagulation consultation.

Requirements: We welcome candidates who have completed residency and/or fellowships in a variety of disciplines including: pathology, hematology/oncology, anesthesia, pediatrics, critical care, and internal medicine.
