Versiti Blood Research Institute/Medical College of Wisconsin
Postdoctoral Fellow - Laboratory of Roy L. Silverstein, Interim Director and Senior Investigator, Versiti Blood Research Institute; and John and Linda Mellowes, Professor and Chairman, Department of Medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin
We are seeking highly self-motivated candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Versiti Blood Research Institute (BRI) in the laboratory of Dr. Silverstein, the former President of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and a leading investigator in the fields of thrombosis and vascular biology. His lab work focuses on a specific cellular receptor known as CD36, the defining member of the Type 2 scavenger receptor family, that is expressed on the surface of platelets, macrophages, and adipocytes.
The lab has developed a “tool kit” to study this protein in vivo and in vitro, including genetic knockout mice crossed into several disease model backgrounds, specific antibodies and shRNA reagents, and highly specific ligands. The fellow will work on an NIH-funded collaborative project with the lab of Dr. Weiguo Cui seeking to understand how CD36 signaling impacts mitochondrial function during atherosclerosis.
