Dr. Patricia Zerra, MD, (pictured left) received an HTRS Mentored Research Award in 2018 and is now a practicing pediatric hematologist and transfusion medicine specialist at Emory University/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Zerra’s current research focuses on the immune response to FVIII in an effort to identify initiating immune events that can serve as targets to prevent FVIII inhibitor formation in patients with hemophilia A. Photo provided by Dr. Zerra and used with permission.
