Director, Center for Hemostasis and Thrombosis | Pediatric Hematologist
University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital is seeking a pediatric hematologist with expertise in hemostasis and thrombosis for a faculty position in The Angie Fowler Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Institute. A clinical interest in classical hematology and clinical/translational research is preferred. The appointee will become a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (CWRU SOM) and join a superb faculty with strengths in all aspects of pediatric hematology oncology, as well as basic, translational, and clinical research. As a member of the CWRU SOM, the individual will participate in teaching activities of students, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral trainees.
The successful candidate will be supported by the Dominic Piunno Endowed Chair in Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders, will serve as the Director of the Center for Hemostasis and Thrombosis at UH Rainbow and as the Medical Director of the Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. This HTC is the only federally-funded HTC serving North-East Ohio and Middlefield Amish Communities and is a lifespan program with both pediatric and adult providers, serving nearly 300 patients with hemophilia, over 250 patients with Von Willebrand disease, the largest Factor IX deficiency population in the country and multiple other factor deficiency disorders. The HTC is a recipient of CDC, MCHB, and Cascade Regional Hemophilia network grants, with a HM designation for the 340b program. The Center has a robust portfolio of clinical trials, including Phase 1 studies and gene therapy/CRISPR-based gene editing trials in patients with hemophilia & rare bleeding disorders.
