Dr. Ming Lim

Dr. Ming Lim is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah and Medical Director of the Utah Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders. Trained at Cambridge University, Mayo Clinic, and UNC Chapel Hill, she specializes in hemostasis and thrombosis, with a research focus on bleeding complications in hemophilia and pregnancy. Nationally, Dr. Lim holds leadership roles in the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Society of Hematology, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). Dr. Lim also serves on the HTRS Executive Committee.

Dr. Lim recalls her first HTRS event, the 2010 HTRS Scientific Symposium, as a pivotal moment in her career. Then a first-year internal medicine resident with limited exposure to hemostasis and thrombosis, she was struck by the intimate, engaging nature of the meeting. After presenting a poster, several prominent leaders in the field stopped by to ask thoughtful questions. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and from that point forward Dr. Lim was hooked. “That meeting set me on a path that has shaped my clinical and academic journey ever since,” she says.

“That culture of generosity and support has deeply influenced how I approach patient care, collaboration, and mentorship in my own career.”
“There’s no rigid checklist to follow and mentorship occurs organically, through genuine relationships and shared curiosity. As someone who values autonomy, this model works especially well for me.”

Mentorship at HTRS

“From mentorship and professional development to the relationships I’ve built, HTRS has played a significant role in shaping my career… and to support the next generation of clinicians and researchers in hemostasis and thrombosis.”

HTRS Trainee Workshop

One initiative especially close to Dr. Lim’s heart is the HTRS Trainee Workshop. She first attended the workshop in 2011, later serving on the planning committee to help shape interactive and engaging educational programs. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see participants grow through the program, many of whom are now faculty themselves,” she shares.

A Defining Career Moment

“It was a powerful reminder of how HTRS fosters connection across all career stages. It breaks down barriers between trainees, clinicians, and researchers, creating a space where everyone’s voice matters.”

Service & Leadership

“I wanted to play a more intimate role in shaping the future of our field and supporting the community that’s supported me.”
“HTRS has opened doors for me, and I’m committed to helping open those same doors for others.”
