Inspiring the Next Generation of Hematology Researchers

At SEARCH (Students Exploring Academic Research Careers in Hematology), mentorship is at the heart of discovery. Every year, students connect with leading hematologists and biomedical researchers who generously share their time, guidance, and expertise.
These mentors do more than teach — they ignite passion, confidence, and a sense of belonging for students exploring research careers in hemostasis and thrombosis.
SEARCH Faculty and Mentor Imo J. Akpan, M.D., shares:
"SEARCH exemplifies a workshop I would have been delighted to attend as a trainee, so it was very easy for me to participate as a mentor. Programs like SEARCH are important because they have the unique ability to educate trainees who may not have considered a career path in hemostasis and thrombosis or hematology. It allows trainees to interact with experts in the field who can offer guidance by sharing their clinical and research experiences and specific steps they took to become successful."
Your gift this Season of Giving helps us grow this community of connection — pairing curious students with the experts who inspire them to keep searching, learning, and discovering.
